Originated from Alambadi of Dharmapuri district in Tamilnadu.
Alambadi cattle are generally grey or dark grey in colour. Also, some other colors are also available in certain other areas.
White markings will be seen in forehead, limb and tail.
Horns are backward curving like Mysore cattle.
Resembles Hallikar and also known as Betas.It is useful in ploughing.
Alambadi cattle is medium in size. Alambadi cattle have white markings in the forehead, limb and tail of this cattle breed. Alambadi cattle have heads that are narrow and they have horns that are backward curving. Their forehead and hump are quite prominent and is present with a thick dewlap. Usually, an adult Alambadi bull weighs about 317-362 kg and these cowsweigh about 290 kg.
Alambadi bulls have a very massive body and are of larger built.

Like many otehr indigenous cattle breed, alambadi cows are also poor milkers only.This breed type bullocks are active, hardy and can subsist on scanty ration. They are not swift trotters but quite suitable for the heavy draught.
Alambadi cattle breed are bred in the hilly tract. They are reared mostly based on forest grazing.
