Bachaur has very close similarity with the Harianacattle breed.The breeding path of Bachaur cattle is Sitamarhi, Dharbanga and Madhubani district of Bihar. They are also known as “Bhutia”.
Bachaur cattle are now mostly present in the areas adjoining Nepal border of India, comprising Bachaur and Koilpur sub-divisions of Sitamarhi district of Bihar State. The breed is mainly used for draft qualities and their ability to thrive with lower quality feeds.
Usual colors of Bachaur cattle iseither grey or greyish white.
They are quite compact with straight backs and well-rounded barrels. The have short necks and muscular shoulders.
Their foreheads are either broad and flat or slightly convex in nature.
Their eyes are large and prominent. They have horns that are medium-sized and stumpy, curving outward, upward and downward.
Their breed is generally used for work and they have bullocks that can work for long periods without any break.
They are average milk producers and their milk yield per lactation is around 347 kg with an average milk fat of 5 %. Their milk yield generally ranges from 225 to 630 kg.
