This breed is also called as Kandadi. This breed of cattle are largely used for ploughing, harrowing and other field operations.They are also used for carting timber from forest area.
This breed is quite popular for its excellent working abilities in heavy rainfall areas, rice fields and hilly tracts. They have adapted themselves to heavy rainfall conditions.

Their horns are short and thick with sideways pointing tips. In this breed type we can find sizeable number of animals with inward pointing horns or downward pointing horn tips as well.
The head of these variety, is usually small with a slightly protruding forehead. This breed has an average milk yield per lactation as 430 kilo grams with an average milk fat of 4.3%. Generally, the lactation capacity ranges from 175 to 800 kg.
