Dhanni breed are moderate sized and compact. They are very active ,work-cattle of peculiar coloring which arebred in considerable numbers in the Attock, Rawalpindi andJhelum areas of the Punjab, and in the North West Frontier Province. These are not big animals. But they are very active and compact and are much prized as fast moving plough cattle buttheir cows are on the whole poor milkers.
This breed is a medium sized cattle. They are compact body with comparatively straight back and fine skin. They possess small head, stumpy horns, ears small and are alert.
They have compact hump, small dewlap, tight sheath and whip like tail that has an end with a white switch. They have a small udder only. Dhanni breed is a sturdy animal.
They have great agility and are suitable for light draught work.
The following variations in body color of Dhanni animals are generally found: predominantly white coat with black spots (Chitta Burga); predominantly black coat with white spots (Kala Burga);white mottles with brown and black patches (Nuqra); Mostly parts of their skin is red with white spotting on certain parts of the body (Ratta Burga).
