Red Kandhari cows produce average quantity of milk.
This breed Originates from Kandhar tehsil that belongs to Nanded district of Maharashtra. This breed type is also commonly known as “Lakhalbunda”.
This breed of cattle is typically a draught breed. Its breeding path can be associated to Ahmadnagar, Parbhani, Beed, Nanded and Latur districts of Maharashtra. The color is uniform deep dark red, but variations from a dull red to almost brown are also found.
Bulls of this breed type are a shade darker than their cows.
Red Kandhari horns are always evenly curved and are medium sized. These animals are conserved under extensive management system on grazing and that too only in small herds.
Same type of concentration is given to bullocks, male calves and milking animals. The bullocks are used for heavy agricultural work like ploughing and carting as well as for transportation.
These cows produce average quantity of milk of about 598 Kg per lactation with average fat percentage of 4.57%
